Day of the hurrying clouds

Friday, June 30th, 2006

Like dancers on a stage, the grey and white clouds parade themselves on that infinite expanse which we call the sky, to the rescue of boredom inflicted upon CJL by Friday Morning MBSSKL assemblies. CJL ponders as usual, the best things in life are indeed free…

Ah, I’m still waiting for that confirmation letter from cathay pacific =D. Thanks a lot for the support guys! if all goes well there’ll be plenty of African Mud to go around..  whee~.. lolz jk of coz.. I’m sure u guys will prefer pictures =)

Speaking of South Africa, I recall a tiny piece of childhood memory. A memory begotten from a time when my imagination ran free, like the deers upon the forests so lush and green… skipping happily munching grasshoppers.. (the deers, not me)

Although I’ve always recalled wanting to become a judge or an actor… after watching too many justice PAO movies (and witnessing the fun of cutting people’s heads off with a giant knife with lion engravings on it) on 10.30pm  weekdays on Metro Vision,  I’ve once also aspired to become an Ambassador! =)

I would once dream.. of going to faraway places, forging high level diplomatic relations with people of other countries.. of staying in a bungalow at a Jalan Duta equavalent somewhere among the other 191 countries of the world.. of sharing my knowledge to others and receiving from them likewise.. of contributing towards human synergy.. and making more friends! I was like about.. 6 years old back then? lol..

And then I realized.. I’ve never seen any Malaysian Chinese ambassadors to date… so, there goes another dream.. as I prepared to surrender my preschool life to the Malaysian education system.. and see where I would fall into society..  this obtuse binomial distribution..

Believe it or not, this is a dream come true! 12 years ago this young man could’ve never imagined in his wildest dreams that he’d become an ambassador for Malaysia.. even if its just for 9 days.. this is truly a blessing from God! =)

I will do my best.

anyway, Here is a cool link to something Han Sheng created http://cathaypacificwildernessworkshop06.blogspot.com/.. check it out =D

Form 6 orientation is done!

I could vividly recall my final signature pursuit… the target was.. the bubbly sportswoman Seaw Yoong! Through the hot, humid, and CO2 saturated atmosphere of the MBS canteen, sweating profusely, I dashed into the canteen, patiently spotting a bunny-like smiling face, awaiting the dear sportlady’s sympathy level to reach its activation point.. which was really high, since it was like, the zillionth time I’m asking her to sign my orientation book.. lol

After singing bah bah black sheep in the canteen, it was mission accomplished. I’ve finally completed the orientation thingy!.. Thank God it went well.. =) .. and I think I learnt some stuff about the characters of the upper 6s too. The most memorable orientation task has got to be from Aaron who asked me to quote the bible, John 3:16.. to be honest I wasn’t 10% sure about it.. but like a Godsend, I remembered the inscriptions on the rostrum of metro tabernacle.. and the quote was completed word for word.. its a miracle!

Anyway.. studies have become interesting again! It’s so amazing when one could relate the sciences and the math to the world around us =D.. how science allows us to understand the world around us and give us an understanding as sweeet as honey.. yet I also realized something.. that this sense of joy vanishes into thin air whenever one is FORCED TO STUDY… so the lesson here is, interest happens when study is on one’s own accord.. study has got to be an autotelic activity, and autotelic activities are what we come to know as leisure.

Well, its time to face the music, Crescendo, CREScendo, CRESCENDO!

In my mind’s eye there is no truth!

The satirical arms deploy…

Extract the sweet tooth!

From that blinded joy…

Oh woe to that blinded joy!

For your time will boil?

And burn like an insectiside coil!

So much for your romance..

nah these lines above carry no meaning except for whatever projects unto the canvas of your mind when you read them.. =D.. just felt like writing poetry to the tunes of an adagio symphony.. lol

I went to KL baptist church today.. And I think I will frequent it from now on =)

Recently I’ve been thinking about the element of PLAY… and I realized that I don’t play enough… and its not natural.. I also realized this childhood mistake I made.. diminishing the importance of play.. No wonder I tense up terribly in games.. I rarely get into the spirit of play… ah.. I thank God for helping me realize my wrongs in this aspect.

As one continues pondering on the importance of play to the invisible growth of an individual, it becomes apparent somewhat, that something is wrong with overly serious people. and yep, yours truly was often infamous for being overly serious.. after all, even animals play with each other because its so natural to them.. in the process, the animals have fun and learn important skills for survival.. those who don’t play.. end up as carrot or banana food.. supplying energy to the mindless-ever-hungry prokaryotes that rot everything..

Fortunately in the realm of humans today, people who don’t play no longer get struck by lightning, or become dinosaur dessert.. they evolve into something spooky and zombie-like… known as nerds or geeks in some countries, stick insects or in extremely rare cases.. GENIUSES.. nature is such a wonderful thing..whee~ but the point is.. nerds, geeks, and skinny people with 1 ton glasses don’t exist when homo sapiens were not the ruler of the world.. so that does sort of speak something of my theory doesn’t it? xD

People who can play.. are good team players.. they’re charismatic and often see the bigger picture.. they seldom exist alone.. on the other hand, we have these not so playful people who don’t possess such qualities as often..

Deep, but words to live by.. as I quote the MBS maxim

play up, play up, play up!

O.O

Sunday.. let’s see.. homework, orientation, telematch, africa, badminton, church, and sleep.. yep, that’s Jia Loon for the last week of June.

Its interesting.. like geese upon salty water.. I’m such an ambivalent wreck.. my writing is not as good as it used to be.. and books are becoming boring.. self mastery seems to be on low fuel autopilot.. and the worst part is MY FAVOURITE FOOD IS NO LONGER WANTAN MEE. dang.. it has become SUSHI and its so bloody expensive… haiz

Friday was another day at school, Form 6… gee.. so far there hasn’t really been anyone going to tanjung rambutan over STPM.. yet, its such a big piece of pie.. munch munch munch goes the class as Mrs Chan hops around the chemistry lab throwing kinetic gas law equation and graphs at us.. scratch scratch scratch goes CJL’s head as Mrs Ng strikes her trademark pose with her catch phrase "See… Form 6 Mathematics is EASY RIGHT".. er.. right… lol

Thus far, I’m reasonably impressed by the MBS teachers’ enthusiasm.. unfortunately though.. I still have yet to get used to this kind of class atmosphere.. guess I need to recallibrate my learning arsenal by fine tuning some frequencies to the teachers’.. I still have not executed a rigid work pace towards my ambition.. it seems wobbly these days.. which forces me to a position of utter uncalled for pondering..

Form 6 orientation.. kinda fun actually. I noticed that the seniors respond fondly when their names are called.. I still have several exco seniors’ signatures to gather at present.. ah.. can’t wait to b done with this thing..

There was a birthday event at CF on Friday.. unfortunately I turned up late due to a series of avoidable events.. how interesting.. the birthdays of the past several months of the CF members were celebrated with most jubilation, fanfare, and food!… man, the cake was awesome.. lol.. It seems Mrs Chan is a CF advisory teacher.. ah, that explains a lot..

After school, went shopping at Mydin.. and subsequently off I paced to the KL library.. with the sky hanging heavy above me..

While crossing the road in front of the KL library, I was sort of stuck in the middle of the road for a full 3 minutes.. much to the amusement of some tourists snapping pictures at anything that moves.. lolz

At the library, tried to do homework, but serotonin was just overwhelming.. so I decided to nap instead.. zzz zzz zzz

Later walked to dad’s office.. which was just across the street from the KL library.. wow, didn’t know dad stocked so much food in his cubicle.. kinda reminds me of a chipmunk storing nuts.. lol.. it was then that dad told me he received an sms from mom about me.. and in that sms mom mumbled something about your son blabla cathay pacific called blabla august 22nd.. omG I totally forgot about it.. this is so sudden! instantly the angle at the sides of my mouth turned skywards 80 degrees.. I’m going to South Africa!!?? sweet =D THANK GOD!

Later tagged along with dad to play badminton at St John secondary school’s badminton court.. wow, what a big school.. looks like a palace.. so grand.. lol.. my badminton seems to have er.. gotten rusty.. must’ve been the overwhelmingly unbalanced study schedule I currently deploy.. kinda fun though.. I must make it a point to sprinkle some badminton time into my schedule on mondays and fridays or risk becoming NERDY beyond repair.. lol

I drove home.. on the Innova.. the car that I once crashed into some stupid van’s headlights.. or was it the other way round? hmm, anyway, it was like steering an elephant on roller skates.. whee~ good thing I got home in one piece.. and yep, the car too.

I didn’t touch my homework! OMG Japan lost.. oh well, what’s so surprising about that.. its no surprise that surprises rarely happen because surprises cannot be defined properly if we are expecting a surprise.. so I guess one might say.. oh wow what a surprise BRAZIL won!.. lol

Today was SMK Cheras’ Prefect gathering.. generally I guess I’m kinda proud of my juniors.. they’ve done a good job. the prefect turnout was greater than last year.. and the performances were good too.. they’ve put much effort into it.. especially the band performance.. last I watched them play they sounded like sardine cans.. now they’re much better.. nice to see their passion in place.. and I just noticed that SMKC’s prefects are often musically inclined.. lol.. and yea I didn’t need to pay anything because the juniors were so kind.. I kinda get freaked out at my alma mater these days.. with the pengetua flushing nasty rumors on my back about how I never went back to see her after achieving my good results in SPM.. swt, come on lar I went to school so many times also you’re not around.. lol.. the second thing that freaks me out is the way my alma mater’s teachers and students give me so much ‘attention’.. lol.. yea its kinda flattering at first.. but then.. life must go on.. I hope the denizens of the school don’t rest on their laurels just because I increased the reputation of the school by a little bit.. we should all always continue to strive for the things that are important in life =)..

After the gathering, went around town in Fong’s car.. whee~ I fell asleep.. had a tosai telur at a mamak stall for lunch.. (NEVER BUY TOSAI TELUR) ah.. after that, went home and napped.. and then went out for dinner again..

I still have not done my homework! OMG CJL is in one of these reactive phases again.. oh yea.. I just caught another beetle.. how cute.. the last one is not dead yet.. ugh diediedie! XD

nah that’s just plain evil… I also discovered today that thick phlegm or mucus is occasionally a symptom of inactive cilia motions or a lack of bodily fluids.. the solution then is simple.. to drink more water or the get the cilia moving by upping the heart rate.. whee~ I just cured myself

Its 1.14 am according to my computer time.. ah.. sleep is sweet for the labourer…

When I was a little child, I used to gaze with admiration at the adults and the elders.. I would imagine myself in their place, spotting perhaps a beer belly and a bald head… being qualified enough to whisper old wive tales of the things that happened to oneself ten years ago..

Yet now I think that’s just so wrong, or at least, the beer belly and bald head part.

Childhood, a time like no other.

Happy moments:

- eating junk food

- eating wantan noodles

- eating at Mcdonald’s

- studying encyclopedias

- reading story books over and over again

- visiting the night market (for the purpose of buying steamed sweet corn, kuih and more kuih)

Sad moments:

- Can’t remember any

Main ambition:

- to create perfect homework

Life was so simple. Or was it? Well, I suppose it was only natural…

Strange.. nowadays food just doesn’t sound appealing anymore.. even these listed above.. and encyclopedias have become a bore.. I think my younger self would do better in PA.

When one grows up, self awareness kicks in like a kangaroo… so many things, complicated ones.. clog.. not the arteries, but the fundamental mental pathways of simplicity.. no wonder we’re growing old.. despite the saying that growing up is optional, I believe staying young is optional too.. young at heart that is..

Speaking of recent events, there has been so much this blog has missed. Oh well, guess whatever jumps out my head within the next 5 minutes will do…

I’ve been handpicked by the class teacher to become my class treasurer.. Not that I fancy money very much to begin with, but I look forward to this monetary management experience.

So far the only cocurriculum I’m involved in at MBS seems to be Christianity related.. namely the CF and perhaps the Chapel Committee. Well, another good reason to pick up my guitar again for good use I suppose.. lolz

I don’t understand why my lips are so itchy these days.. I seem to find it second nature to jump at the glimpse of an opportunity to any competition without even consulting my brain.. wajajajaja.. already got fished by a consumer quiz, and next a badminton telematch.. good thing the MBS idol registration thingy is already over.. what it isn’t? gee..

Sometimes I wonder why everything gets so complicated… its so hard to duplicate simplicity… can it be used as an arsenal against the onslaught of STPM? Studies show that geniuses seem to preserve a certain element of youth within them.. ah.. speaking of geniuses.. seems like I passed the Malaysian Mensa admission test.. looking forward to learn…

Ah, form 6 orientation.. I am actually quite surprised that the seniors thus far have been reasonable people.. with the exception of certain short sighted individuals who enjoy asking me to dance or find them foreign currency coins, one may conclude that the overwhelming majority of the Upper 6 students of MBSSKL are actually rational and capable individuals.

Ah.. the day after tomorrow is SMK Cheras’ prefect gathering… to go or not to go… feel like going back to my alma mater.. then again, badminton and studies beckon like daffodils in Antarctica..

Oh yea.. speaking of SMK Cheras, who’d guess I was destined to miss Anugerah Cemerlang =(.. but it wasn’t all a lost though.. though I missed out the opportunity to meet my former teachers and a truck load of friends.. my dad was willing to go in my place.. thank goodness.. and he took home some trophies and a RM50 note, well, Choon Keat was the best SPM student by far, and everyone else was pretty much satisfied too as all the former form 5s that day received a glass trophy with a pretty blue ribbon tied to it =)

Why didn’t I attend Anugerah Cemerlang? Well, I was shortlisted to attend a 1 day workshop for the Cathay Pacific Wilderness experience at the National Zoo. Needless to say, I was pleasantly surprised, and pretty much excited too. Basically, everything was free, and I made some new friends there as well as learnt some important lessons about teamwork, leadership, and planning. It was enlightening as well as exhilirating.. as well as intensely satisfying to be able to meet, know and learn from each other. The amount of fun I experienced that day was so great, its difficult to put into words… but there was definitely no regrets participating in it…

Now if only I can duplicate this fun in my studies and endeavours.. that would certainly make things interesting =)

Ah.. ten years ago, ten years to come.. who cares =P

Canned Clocks

3 weeks disappear like a puff of helium.. up up and away towards the equilibrium of unstable space.

On the 22nd of May, CJL trods towards Methodist Boys’ Secondary School as a lower 6 student. Obediently hopping from home, to the Salak South LRT station, to the Hang Tuah station, through a pedestrian bridge, though Davidson road, through Methodist Boys’ Primary School, and finally arriving at the designated coordinate non the too horrendously late.

My first impression of MBS was that the students were of the bookish type. Yeah despite the fact that the influence of the cosmo alignments made exam week happen, one wouldn’t find it hard to imagine that the students seemingly possessed some borg-like nanotechnology brain implants that allowed them to sustain a telepathic string of synchronity with their books… hmmm just imagine the wonders schoolwide WiFi then, wait, it already has one?! Imagine the wonders of WiFi when everyone is able to receive information straight into the brain. lolz

[droning borg voices]

We are the borg. Existence as you have known it is history. We shall assimilate your biological and technological qualities and add them to our own. Resistance is futile.

[Zap zap, urGH ARGH, urRRaAA, jab, zap, zap]

Resistance is futile [borg chant]

[zap, zap, wuargh..]

Wait, why am I typing this? Well for one thing I’m too tired to continue [hint hint, lazee] and for 2, well, discipline in MBSSKL keeps reminding me of the borg… onoz voyager’s soundtrack is playing in my head.. >.<..

PERFECTION = MBS, that is, if we assume that’s the direction MBS is headed whenever the principal waves his fist in the air and whisper most passionately.. "GO FORWARD MBS".. that is also true if we assume, play up, play up, play up, [school song psych up] actually denotes to play up till/to perfection.

actually its a good thing, this is a school environment that somehow just clicks for me.. probably because more often than not I’m quite borg-like myself.. woaharaharaharagh. 8]

Well this borg demands regeneration. Cheers!
